AFter that the drive was pretty uneventful though I did forget about gas and was surprised when the light came on. I've been really good about filling up at half, but not this morning, so I pulled into the next available gas station. It was really old and funky, the pumps were pre-digital. Reminded me of the old slot machines at Harveys. I wasn't completely confident, so I only bought 20 bucks worth. A little while later we decided to treat ourselves to a meal at a sit down restaurant. WOW!

I had a Georgia cured ham/cheese omlet, grits and biskets. Lizzi had a poached egg, hash browns and a chicken fried steak and Alec dined on 2 poached eggs, a pork chop, side of pan cakes and toast. We also ordered a quail to share. When the waitress asked us "fried or grilled" we looked blankly at each other. So she responded, "I'll just fry half and grill the other!" Southern hospitality! Everything was delicious and despite what appeared to be an enormous amount of food, we ate it all. Go CF! Our bill? 34.95! I wanted to buy a shirt too, keep this great locally owned restaurant in business but they didn't have any tank tops. Since the flood, and the fact that all my clothes remain in storage, I have really missed most of all my tanks.

After our delicious southern meal, the drive to Macon was uneventful and quick. It was weird to drive during daylight. Even Lizzi commented that she kept noticing the Burger King signs advertising "open 24 hrs" even though we could feasibly eat anywhere we wanted since it was during business hours.
